Program Break

Today I am taking a break from showing programs to show something else. Two Mizzou (and in some people's opinion) NFL legends.

Roger Wehrli and Me (He's on the right)

Roger Wehrli was a two-time All-Big 8 player and was the Big 8 Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. That same year, he was a unanimous All-America selection.

At the time of his College Hall of Fame induction he held school records for career punt returns, punt return yards in a game, season, and career. He played in the Senior Bowl and was named to the 50-year Anniversary All-Senior Bowl team. Wehrli was a member of the first class of inductees into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2003.  In 1990, Wehrli was voted a charter member of the MU Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame.

                                                         Kellen Winslow and Me.

Kellen Winslow did not play high school football until his senior year. Until then, he was a self-described "nerd" who played chess. In college, Winslow played for Mizzou and was a two-time all-conference selection in the Big Eight and a consensus All-American in 1978. In 1999, he was ranked number 73 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Football Players of all time.

Both Winslow and Wehrli are also in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Wehrli played for the Arizona Cardinals and Winslow played for the San Diego Chargers.  I met both of these players before two different Mizzou football games. Both were very nice and willing to sign and talk with fans. They each signed a ball for me.
